My family and I used to live at the Pastoorslaan Hillegom before our migration to,Australia. We used to walk to school this took about 20 minutes. I have done my 1st Holy communion together with my sister Lida May 1956 at the Martinus Kerk Hillegom. I remember some of the nuns like Zuster Johanito, Hoofd Zuster at the time. Zuster Gemma de hand werk zuster.Zuster Valeria de tuin zuster.My sister ans I used to have dutys to help her in die grote tuin.My duties were weeding raking and picking strawberry,yummmmm.When our time was up we were given een opgewarmde kliekjes from the night before. Sometimes it was nice but not always. We used to bury the unwanted food behind the gazebo shhhh don't tell any one I remember making glijbaantjes when we had frost, How great that was and a lot of fun unfortunaly the nuns did not think so many of them slipped on the glijbaanen. Does any one remember de kijkdoozen,and de prik boeken ? The girls remember are Betsie and Elly Berg or van de Berg. Anja Ruigrok, Marianne van Rooden Nannie van Rooden,Margo Ruigrok and Gerda Rusman.
